CHARLOTTE 鈥 Last night was a night to remember, especially so for Charlotte FC defender and city native, Jaylin Lindsey.
鈥淚t was unbelievable. I was just telling one of the guys that it really hit me during the national anthem, that this was it, this is what I鈥檝e been working for my whole life.鈥
It鈥檚 now been around two months since the team first got together to start preseason. Learning head coach Miguel Ram铆rez's game model has been a large learning curve for the players but with every game, they look increasingly comfortable in it.
鈥淚f you asked me this in preseason, I would have been nervous,鈥 Lindsey responds to a question asking him about the comfortability of team in Ram铆rez's system.
鈥淣ow that we have our groove and we have our daily routine of his structure and playstyle, I now feel really, really comfortable [in the system] and I think the other guys feel the same way. It鈥檚 all about repetition.鈥
鈥淚t sucks to lose, I hate to lose but at the same time I am so, so proud. I think overall and especially defensively, I鈥檓 so proud of how we played. Everyone defensively was on the same page. At the same time, we still created some good chances on offense. But we are still just starting. Give us some time, by halfway through the season, I think we鈥檒l be a really good team.鈥
This match was a moment that Lindsey had been dreaming and working for almost the entirety of his life.
鈥淭his was the best game I鈥檝e been a part of my entire life. Before walking off the pitch I sat right in the middle of the pitch just trying to soak it all in... I鈥檓 so proud of myself and the team and how we played.鈥
