Experienced Uruguayan center back joins CLTFC as Club鈥檚 7th聽signing for inaugural roster
CHARLOTTE, NC (Wednesday, September 1, 2021) 鈥 Charlotte FC today announced that the Club has signed defender Guzm谩n Corujo on a three-year contract with a one-year option pending a medical and the receipt of a P-1 visa and ITC.
Corujo will occupy an international roster slot.
The 25-year-old center back has played over 100 matches for Nacional since debuting as a professional for the Uruguayan club聽in 2017.

A two-time champion of Uruguay鈥檚 Primera Divisi贸n in 2019 and 2020, Corujo featured 22 times for Nacional in the Copa Libertadores, the top continental club competition in South America.
Corujo, who was scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the season, signed a pre-contract with Charlotte FC. Players are eligible to sign pre-contracts with clubs within six months of their current contracts expiring. Upon Corujo signing the pre-contract agreement, Nacional terminated the defender鈥檚 contract that was set to expire later this year. Corujo will join Charlotte FC in January for preseason.
Corujo is the seventh member of Charlotte FC鈥檚 inaugural roster following the acquisitions of fellow defenders Christian Fuchs, Adam Armour and Jan Soboci艅ski, and midfielders Sergio Ruiz, Riley McGree and Brandt Bronico.
